Irène Abi-Zeid is a full professar specialized in multicriteria decision aiding at Lavai University, Québec, Canada. She obtained a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in Mathematics from Ottawa University and a Ph.D.in applied statistics and risk analysis from Université du Québec and the ENGREF (France). Her current research activilies are conducled along two major axes: Search planning for search and rescue operations and Mullicriteria Decision Aiding and machine leaming with applicalions in Transportatlon, urban planning, water quality and the heallh sector. She has published in international conferences and journals and has conducted numerous funded research projects and contracts in the area of decision sciences for industry and govemments at the provincial and federal levels. She has developed MCDA-Ulaval, an open source software implementing many ELECTRE multicriteria methods. Her software is widely used for research and teaching purposes in Canada and Europe and is freely available . The results of her research in Search and Rescue planning have been transferred to industry and implemented in an operational search planning tool for the Canadian Coast Guard. She has been involved in the organizalion of major scientific events, has supervised over 60 graduate students, and received many scientific awards. She serves as reviewers and member of program committees of many internazional scientific journals and conferences . She is a member of Centre de recherche sur les soins et fes services de premiére ligne de I'Université Lavai, of Centre de recherche sur les projets en contexte public, the Centre de Recherche sur les Données Massives (CRDM Big Dala), and of the GERAD research group and president of the Quebec chapter of the Canadian Operations Research Society (CORS).
