Dr. Per-Johan Dahl is an architect and researcher. He holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from UCLA Department of Architecture and Urban Design, a Master of Architecture from Lund University, and a University Certificate in Civil Engineering from Blekinge Institute of Technology. Dr. Dahl has taught at UCLA, OTIS College of Art and Design, USC, Woodbury University, City University of Hong Kong, and Lund Institute of Technology. He is faculty and board member of the Research Institute for Experimental Architecture (RIEA). His research circulates around three areas: new modes of design thinking, the politics of urban form, and emergent building types, which will frame his activities at PoliTO in research and teaching. During his 10-month Visiting Professor tenure, Dr. Dahl will teach at DAD, in the Atelier of the MSc program and in the Ph.D. program, and he will collaborate with the Future Urban Legacy Lab (FULL) and the South China Torino Collaboration Lab (ChinaLab). At PoliTO he will advance his current research on urban morphology, building type, and teaching culture through design thinking.
